The Area
Alhama de Granada is a beautiful white hill town in Andalucia halfway between Granada and Malaga. The town is a paradise for those who enjoy Andulucian culture, history, trail running, cycling or those looking for a relaxing break in the Spanish sunshine. Set along a glorious gorge and boasting thermal spas the town has numerous cultural, natural, and historic sites to explore. A mere 6 miles(10km) from the village is Lake Bermejales which has a beach and shaded hiking, biking, and running trails. For artistic travelers the surrounding natural environment provides truly inspiring subject matter.
For those who are interested in enjoying a slice of the good Spanish life, Alhama offers a plethora of bars and restaurants, predominately surrounding the two main plazas. Equally as enticing is a morning coffee at one of the many cafes or a loaf of warm fresh bread or a pastry from one of the many bakeries. The town has all the conveniences you may need, not to mention various markets, bakeries, butchers, fruit sellers, and artisanal product purveyors. At Casa Chocolate there is the opportunity to shop for and prepare a gourmet meal in our fully equipped kitchen and then serve it in the dining room, on the patio, or on the roof terrace.
